Alh. Husaini Haruna Muhammad was a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1991 with Second Class Upper Division in B. Ed (Technology) Electrical/Electronic option at its affiliated campus in Kaduna Polytechnic. He obtained his Master’s Degree in Industrial Technical Education (Electrical/Electronic) at the University of Nigeria Nsukka, Enugu state in 1998. As a qualified quality assurance manager, he obtained the following qualifications: Level 3 Quality Assurance Assessor Course (QAA), Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance Manager (IQAM) and Level 5 External Quality Assurance Manager (EQAM). Some other certificates obtained included certificates in IQAM Train the Trainer Certificate, “Developing A Curriculum” (DACUM), a “Systematic Curriculum & Instructional Development” (SCID), Environmental and Social Framework (World Bank), (ESF) and Environmental Studies Certificate. He taught for several years in Kaduna Polytechnic and reached the rank of lecturer I in the Department of Education (Technical) and held the position of head of Electrical/Electronic section before transferring his service to the National Board for Technical Education in 2001 as a Principal Programme Officer. In NBTE he was a member of several committees and held several positions, such as Ag. Director, Department of Vocational Technical and Skills Development and a pioneer Director, NBTE North East Zone among others. He was also a Board member to some institutions and organizations, a Desk Officer for JCCE/NCE, a Desk Officer Tetfund Skills Intervention to Polytechnics and an Environmental Safeguard Officer under the IDEAS World Bank Project.
He attended various conferences, train-the-trainers’ workshops and seminars in and outside the country on different areas of TVET, particularly on the development of TVET curriculum, National Occupational Standards, skills exposition, quality assurance and accreditation of programmes both at technical colleges and tertiary technical institutions, resource inspection visitations to newly established TVET institutions among others.
With his wealth of experience, he is dedicated to transforming and taking the Institute to the highest level of recognition in its training and certification nationally ad globally. He is committed to hard work and result-oriented activities that will elevate the IVTSD to global reputation. He was a member of professional associations such as: TRCN, TEPAN, NAEC and NATE.
